Welcome to the Nexia Option Chain. This guide covers what the tool does, how to read each part of the screen, and how traders use it day to day. Bookmark this post for reference.

    ๐Ÿ” 1. Getting Started

The option chain is available to logged-in nexiatechnicals.com members.

    1. Log in to your member account on nexiatechnicals.com.
    2. Open the Option Chain page.
    3. The chain loads on its own, and live prices appear within a few seconds.

Tip: If the page stays on its loading message for a long time, refresh once. Your session renews itself in the background, so you don’t need to log in again while the page is open.

    ๐ŸŽฏ 2. What’s Covered

    Item Details
    Symbols NIFTY and BANKNIFTY
Expiries Every listed expiry: weekly, monthly, quarterly and half-yearly
Strikes Centred on ATM, with the window moving automatically as the market moves
Modes Live (real-time) and Historical (minute-by-minute replay)

    ๐Ÿงญ 3. The Top Bar

The top bar is your control panel.

    • Live / Historical toggle: switch between the real-time chain and past sessions.
    • Symbol: choose NIFTY or BANKNIFTY.
    • Expiry: pick any listed expiry. A recently expired weekly stays selectable (marked expired, showing its final closing chain) until the next weekly expiry closes, which is handy for a post-expiry review.
    • Settings: display preferences.

    Market Summary Tiles

    Tile What it tells you
    Spot Current index level
Synth Fut Synthetic future, derived from ATM call and put prices (put-call parity). This is the fair forward price the options themselves are pricing in
ATM The at-the-money strike, the one nearest the synthetic future
    IV Implied volatility at ATM
VIX India VIX, the market’s fear gauge
PCR Put-Call Ratio based on open interest

Why Synth Fut? Option prices react instantly. Deriving the forward from them keeps ATM, ITM shading and Greeks consistent with what the options market is actually pricing.

    ๐Ÿงพ 4. Reading the Chain

The chain follows the familiar layout: Calls | Strike | Puts

    • The Strike column sits in the middle.
    • ITM strikes are shaded, so you can see at a glance which options are in the money.
    • The chain opens scrolled to ATM, so you start where the action is.
    • As the market moves, the strike window re-centres around the new ATM automatically.

    Views (bottom bar)

    View Best for
LTP A quick scan of prices, OI and OI change
Greeks Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega and IV per strike
All Columns The full picture in one table
    Settings Adjusting the display

    Key Columns

    • LTP: last traded price, with change from the previous close.
    • OI: open interest, the number of outstanding contracts.
    • OI Chg: change in OI versus the previous session. This is where you spot fresh build-up or unwinding.
    • IV & Greeks: calculated live for every strike.

    ๐ŸŸข 5. Connection Status

A small status strip tells you how data is reaching your screen.

    Status Meaning
    LIVE Streaming in real time
POLLING Your network blocked streaming, so the page refreshes prices regularly instead. Data is still current, just updated in steps
FEED OFFLINE The data feed is temporarily unavailable. The page reconnects on its own once it’s back

A Reconnect button is always visible if you want to force a fresh connection. On phones, tap the status line to expand the details.

โช 6. Historical Mode: Replay the Market

This is one of the most powerful parts of the tool. Every expiry is recorded minute by minute, so you can replay how any session unfolded.

    How to use it

    1. Switch the toggle to Historical.
    2. Pick a date.
    3. Pick an expiry (every expiry recorded that day is listed).
    4. Use the controls:
      • Slider: jump to any minute of the day.
      • Step buttons: move one minute at a time.
      • Player: replay at 1ร—, 2ร—, 5ร—, 10ร— or 30ร— speed.
      • Sparkline: a mini chart of the day’s move, so you can see where you are.

Greeks, IV, ATM and PCR are all calculated as of that minute, so you see exactly what a trader would have seen at that moment.

Member access: Historical mode covers trading days from the first of last month onwards, for every expiry.

    ๐Ÿ“ฑ 7. Mobile & Full Screen

The chain is built to work well on phones and tablets.

    • Compact phone layout: the top bar splits into neat rows, and the summary tiles form a 3-column grid.
    • Compact chain: Calls | Strike | Puts with LTP, OI and OI Chg, with the strike pinned in the centre.
    • Large touch targets for easy tapping.
    • Full-screen button on every device. Tap the close (โœ•) icon, or press Esc on desktop, to exit.
    • Dark and light themes supported.

    ๐Ÿ’ผ 8. Practical Use Cases

    Finding Support & Resistance

Look for strikes with the highest Put OI (possible support) and highest Call OI (possible resistance). Watch OI Chg during the day to see whether those levels are being strengthened or abandoned.

    Reading Market Sentiment

    • PCR rising: more put writing, often read as support building.
    • PCR falling: more call writing, often read as overhead pressure.
    • VIX climbing: expect bigger swings and richer premiums.

    Spotting Build-up vs Unwinding

Combine price change with OI change:

    Price OI Reading
    Up Up Long build-up
    Down Up Short build-up
    Up Down Short covering
    Down Down Long unwinding

    Choosing Strikes with Greeks

    • Delta for directional exposure and probability-style estimates.
    • Theta to see how fast time decay works against (or for) you.
    • Vega for sensitivity to volatility changes, especially around events.
    • IV to compare whether options look cheap or expensive across strikes.

    Expiry-Day Trading

Keep the nearest weekly expiry open in Live mode. Watch ATM shifts, Gamma and OI changes closely, since things move fast on expiry day.

    Learning & Post-Market Review

    Use Historical mode to:

    • Replay a big move at 10ร— and see how OI shifted before it happened.
    • Review your own trades against the chain as it looked at entry and exit.
    • Study how IV behaves around events and into expiry.

    Comparing Expiries

Switch between weekly and monthly expiries to compare IV and OI positioning across the curve.

    โ“ 9. Quick FAQ

    Q: Why does a column show “โ€””?
A: The value isn’t available yet (for example, before the first trade of the day, or when there’s no previous-session data for a new contract).

Q: The status says POLLING. Is my data delayed?
A: Only slightly. Prices refresh in regular steps instead of streaming. This usually happens on restricted networks, such as some office or public Wi-Fi.

Q: Can I see expiries that have already expired?
A: Yes. The latest expired weekly stays available in Live mode until the next weekly closes, and all expiries are available in Historical mode within your access window.

Q: Does the chain work outside market hours?
A: Yes. Live mode shows the last available data, and Historical mode works any time.
